Summer Birds

The ponds near our house have Canada Geese that overwinter - and in the spring it is time for babies.
The goslings hatched some time ago, and swim along with the parents

They grow up quickly.

And several Mallard families nest in the same area
Something upset Mother Goose -  off to the water with the babies close behind
Mother Goose is also busy protecting her babies - all is well with mothers on guard.

  6. I enjoyed seeing these...I haven't happened to be out to see any this spring/summer. I was hoping to get out last week but it didn't happen.

  7. Hi JoAnn! I'm getting back into my blog visits, too, after a crazy-busy season of family events. It's very relaxing to see your peaceful photos and imagine myself right there alongside your lens. I've seen many, many Canada geese here, but never a family of babies. Hard to imagine that "fluff" will soon develop into sleek feathers!

  8. Early in spring there were two pairs of geese hanging around the cabin, then in mid-June they disappeared. A few days ago a big group came through, Mom and Dad, three little ones, and three larger geese, probably their first brood already grown. - Margy
