Sailboats

Each Wednesday there are sail boat races on Bellingham Bay - a good windy day makes the races a lot of fun.
The bay was a little choppy this day - and plenty of wind.

Coming back on the last leg of the race

Wait - there are some rowers out there too - they look like they are riding low in the water.

 Here they come
 And there they go
 Stopping for a little chat
Lots of fun on the water.

It's always fun to watch sailboat races. We can't see it but the Race to Alaska kicked off from Pt. Townsend today, headed first to Victoria and then, eventually, to Ketchikan. No motors and no assistance allowed. We had strong winds and many of the boats got blown off course, up the west side of Vancouver Island. My husband is following the exploits online.

I am always envious of folk who live so near to water - both the healthy air and the face that there is always so much to look at. Lovely photographs.

Hello, pretty series. The views of the boats and water are lovely. My SIL and BIL are really into dragon boat racing. They travel all around to be in the races. Happy Friday, enjoy your day and weekend!

Those first two shots look like they could be water color paintings!

So beautiful - some of your photos could be paintings JoAnn.
Nothing prettier on a bay in the sunshine - sailboats - reminds me so much of my home town.
