More Barns of Snohomish

Lots of wonderful barns on our trip to Snohomish County
 Some in great shape
 Some not
Longer barns seem to be more popular in Snohomish County
Not sure what this might have been used for - but it was on a farm

 Nearly gone
Ooops - I think someone drove into this one - there is police tape around the damage.
Another long barn - looks like there might be some repairs being made - or remodeling

  1. Great shots, JoAnn. Used to be lots of Dairies in Snohomish---in fact you could tell by the aroma in certain areas. Lived out that way for many years. Sad to see places abandoned though.

  5. Great collection of barns. I don't know why but I find ramshackle barns on their last legs to be very appealing. Fantastic heron shot in the next post.

  7. ...JoAnn, what an assortment of barns. The Biringer Farm barn and the last grouping are my favorites. Thanks for being here this week, please stop back again.

  10. Wow, that is a great collection of barns. I'm very taken with the 'nearly gone' image and the treatment you gave it, I find it very captivating.

  11. Do you keep count of all those barns? I think I would forget which ones I had already taken pictures of

  12. I would love to see a cow gazing out of each window in the long, low ones! With no one around, these all seem so sad and lonely. My personal favorites are the square, traditional ones - and if there's a "barn quilt" accenting it, well, more the better! Toss in a few horses and sheep behind a fence and its Americana at its finest!

  13. When I was a teen I went to my grandparents place during the summer. I was in college and didn't have time to ride my horse stabled in the city, so she was moved to Northern California to their acreage. I would ride through the fields and come across farm workers housed in old sheds and buildings. The one you pictured with all the windows reminded me of one of the buildings used to house the workers. It was an old chicken coop. I felt so bad for the men living there. - Margy
