I had a plan. After receiving a box of pretty fabric from my friend Candy, I decided to make doll dresses for each doll, using the same pattern - but different trims and fabrics on each dress. Here are some of my choices
But going through my fabrics (almost all that I chose were from Candy) I became enchanted with different colors of rick rack and changed my plan - now the plan is to use different combinations of fabric and coordinating rick rack - and the pattern of the dresses will be the same.
And here they are - same pattern - different fabrics and rick rack - and each doll has a big, matching hair bow.
The purple gladiola are a gift from Don.
Let's go outdoors - the fuchsias are blooming - perfect for our new dresses
Such a sweet summer day - and sweet summer dresses!
Surprise!!! It's Donnie!
With his new Hawaiian shirt and khaki Bermuda shorts - he is ready for summer too.
Kyla loves her morning glory dress
And Poppy has red fabric with tiny white dots - paired with watermelon trim and red rick rack
Abby's dress fabric is paper dolls (another earlier gift from Candy - what a grand friend) and Sally Jo looks so summery in her red and white striped dress with white dots on red for trim and red rick rack.
No shoes today - it is summer in the garden.
Hurray for summer!
I'm glad I changed my plan and made the dresses with rick rack for trim - they are perfect for summer fun in the garden.

You're putting me in the mood for sewing! I wonder if I have that pattern! I LOVE them all and the big hair bows are perfect. I have one of my dolls with a hair issue and this would work so well for her. Did you make up the design? And Donnie looks like he's ready for a vacation in Florida or Hawaii! What FUN! You are amazing and all the pretty fabrics from Candy are so nice! Enjoy your day! HAVE FUN! Hugs, Diane
What a sweet garden party There didn't seem to be any competition among them as to who had the nicest outfit.
They all appear quite pleased with their choices.
I remember rick rack from my childhood but hardly ever see it around any more.
Hi JoAnn, I missed some of your recent posts, so checked back a ways. Love all the barns in British Columbia and the old truck planted with the pretty flowers. The girls look so cute, Donny too, in all their new summer finery. But I almost couldn't get off of your beautiful header collage. Are those from your garden? Absolutely beautiful..Happy Wednesday..xxoJudy
All those fabrics are lovely. It is amazing how one pattern can look so different when different co-ordinating fabrics are used. Your group of friends look gorgeous in their new outfits. Love the ribbon bows, and Donnie's shirt...well....that is so cool!
The girls look lovely in their new dresses. The rick-rack works wonderfully for this type of doll dress, it is a pretty finishing touch that complements the material perfectly for each of the dolls. I especially love the way you trimmed out the paper doll pattern dress. Actually I love them all!
They are all so adorable in their new outfits!
Hello JoAnn, your design decisions were brilliant. All the doll's outfits look amazing. I haven't made doll clothes in a very long time. You brought back some good memories with your post.
Hugs,
Terri
I absolutely love all the outfits, and your header is stunning. :)
Wow! How different the same pattern looks with different fabric and trim! Great project. Even though the dresses are all darling I think my favorite fabric is the morning glories.
Beautiful rich colors and darling clothes! My sisters and I played "paper dolls" obsessively. That pastime seems to have gone away for the past two generations!
Hurrah for summer - I love all of their outfits!
All the best Jan
