Near Deming, WA there is a small plot of irises. A sweet lady grows them every year and takes orders for the tubers, to be delivered in the Autumn. We decided to take a ride out to see if they were in bloom yet and we luckily hit the absolutely most perfect day possible. The flowers were in full fresh bloom - perfect for photos. The viewing and sale was to start the next day so we had the area all to ourselves.
There are so many colors and styles
a feast of beauty
I don't know what the large leafy plants in the foreground are - we'll have to go back
and see if they are blooming
While I was busy photographing the flowers, Don took a short walk around the garden patch
It is not a very big patch
but is loaded with beautiful color!!

I've never seen such a large garden of iris before. How beautiful! Ours are just leaves up at this time and won't bloom until mid-June. It's is nice to see such a variety of colours as mine are purple and mauve. Wishing you a beautiful week JoAnne.
I love irises! My Mom always grew the yellow and purple ones when I was a kid. Now My Rare One grows purple Japanese irises (a little smaller) and great big "root beer" irises.
It's amazing at how many fields of flowers you have where you live...just amazing! It must smell incredible too! Hugs!!!
what a lovely garden, the irises are one of my favorite flowers. The colors and photos are lovely. Happy Monday, enjoy your new week!
I love iris but the bigger ones aren't anywhere near flowering yet in the UK - or my bit of it anyway:) I do have miniature iris flowering though, a big patch of one called 'Dorothy' and another called 'Persian Carpet' which is absolutely gorgeous. Of the ones you photographed I think my favourite is the yellow one.
Irises are the most beautiful of plants. When they are all showing off in a bed together they truly take one's breath away. What a lovely garden to visit. Your photos JoAnn are amazing. Though difficult to pick a favourite, my heart goes to the two-toned blue beauty. 'Tis a pity you will have to go back to find out the name of the plants in the foreground. =)
That's a lot of Irises!
What a beautiful collection of irises. My favorites are the pale pink ones - I've never seen any like that. I ripped all the irises out of my garden this year - they were not very pretty and never stood up on their own and looked quite bedraggled. An dedicated iris bed would be the thing to have. Which one is your favorite, JoAnn?
beautiful!
What a lovely display of Irises.... I want to plant a bed like this in my garden someday.

A big grouping of Iris like this is stunning to look at. I will bet they are even more beautiful in person.
Oh my goodness! That photo beneath the picture of Don - stunning! You have such success with birds and flowers and everything in between!
I love bearded iris! I planted some glorious ones in California...only to learn that the scent was a bit much for me. {{sigh}} These are really beautiful.
I'm amazed she is still there. We bought Irises from this lady about 5 years ago and she was saying it was her last year. I just finished dividing 3 very large clumps (yes, it is too long!) and have lots of new tubers to plant and to share. All of the irises are very healthy and blooming beautifully. :)
