The Barn Collective

Time for barns - on this third day of the new year.  No matter where we travel in our area we come across lovely barns - old and new.

Wouldn't you love to live in that big farm house?  Just wander from room to room - enjoying the space and beauty of a well built home.

I'm always fascinated by this hill - it just appears right straight up out of the valley floor - and the farm is nestled up against it.

The horses weren't even aware we were there
I don't think the barn gets much use anymore.
I know - not a barn - but one of my favorite homes in the Skagit Valley.  It used to be a bed and breakfast, but now is a private home.
A few of its charming outbuildings - the two on the right used to be guest rooms, often with views of migrating Trumpeter Swans and Snow Geese in the fields.

  2. Happy New Year! I always look forward to seeing your barn photos. The backdrop of trees in the second photo is beautiful. When you think of the history among these barns, it's pretty amazing and hopefully will inspire people to preserve them.

  5. What a wonderful collection of barns. That first white one is most impressive. So large. Then the close up of the little unpainted one is so nice with its splash of white. And then there are the traditional red ones. Nice...and you shared some horses with us, too.
