Some Cows

Cows looking at us while I take pictures of barns
This cow was licking the mail box post - but stopped when I got out my camera. Wonder if it is salty

Did you ever lick the salt licks for the cows when you were a kid?

I love the vivid beauty of the stark black and white against the green. Beautiful shots! I have no clue about salt licks, as I grew up strictly a city girl!

Oh, yes, I licked the salt block set out for the cows. When I think of it now, YUK! There was a farm next to our street and we children would break little pieces off the cow salt and eat them.
Great cow photos.

Jo, didn't you see the little cell phone the cow on the left had? They were taking pix of you! The whole licking the mailbox post thing was just a ploy to distract you.

Holstein cows always look so bony don't they? But they are jolly good milkers. No I was never tempted to try salt licking!!

My grandpa loved taking photos of cows. He went on a trip to scenic Switzerland and what were all his photos of? Cows.

They are pretty cows. I did not about salt licks until I was much older. Cute captures! Enjoy your day!

I do remember seeing salt licks in farm fields....they were blue. I see the odd one now too. Cows are funny and nosy. :)

I love cows. Their faces seem beautiful to me...and these two are gorgeous.
I spent most of my younger days in cities. Never saw any salt licks there and I doubt that I'd be tempted now. Chocolate licks? Now that would be another story!

Great photography JoAnn! I love black and white photos, even if they are green and blue too!! The cows seem quite content to watch you taking pictures of them. Are they dairy cows (I didn't see any udders)? I hope so, dairy cows live a lot longer than the "other" cows and I would think they eat very well too. I hope you are enjoying every minute of your time away from blogging. There is so much joy when the whole family can be together.

I had a salt lick for my horse, but never was tempted to give it a try since it was in her feed box with lots of stuff sticking to it. - Margy
