Well, new to me for sure.
Driving up near Ferndale, WA I spotted a bird in the top of a tree ( almost at the top of the second tree from the left), thinking it was an eagle we pulled into a parking lot at a park for a picture
It was not an eagle - but an Osprey - we wondered if its nest was nearby but couldn't find a nest

I have only seen Ospreys from a distance - never close enough for photos. I'm glad my new camera has such good zoom. It is a Nikon CoolPix P600. Love that camera and the ability it gives me to get good shots from far away.
Well spotted! Magnificent bird of prey. They nest here in the UK too.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous shots and sighting of the Osprey! Have a happy day and week ahead!
ReplyDeleteFabulous...it's one of my favorite birds. Your photos are dazzling.
ReplyDeleteGreat sighting. Ospreys are pretty rare in the uk, there are only around 250 breeding pairs I think.
ReplyDeleteWell you certainly have "eagle eyes!" Ooops! I mean "Osprey eyes!" What a lovely shot. And I think I will look into that camera. I love the off-center shot - beautiful!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful osprey sighting! Great photos!
ReplyDeleteZowie Batman!..er..I mean, Jo! That IS a good zoom!
ReplyDeleteI used to have a SLR back in the day with a couple of different lenses. But it became a hassle to carry it around. Heavy. Bulky. I have a small LUMIX with a 14 megapixel whatever and it's ok enough. I'm surprised at some of the spectacular pix people take with their phones! How do they do that?
We have quite a few osprey here on the east coast. Great birds.

This is such a majestic bird and with the amount of white on it, we sometimes think we are seeing an eagle. They love to live close to the water here to fish. You got some great photos my friend. Have a wonderful week! (I better get busy sewing or you'll give up on me! lol) Sweet hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteGreat closeup. We have an osprey nest not too far from the cabin. They last time we went by it was still empty. We'll need to head over that way to check it out again. - Margy
ReplyDeleteHow awesome to be able to get such great distance shots! And, thanks for telling me what kind of camera you used--I'm planning on getting a new one in the hear future and yours fits all my requirements!
ReplyDeleteWow! Very nice detail! Look how clear the eye is in that first shot! I've not had the pleasure to see an osprey this close before.
