Mosaic Monday

We braved the crowds and enjoyed the sunshine and went down to Skagit Valley - south of here - to see the Tulip Fields in bloom.  The weather has been rainy and I expected the tulips to be damaged from the wind and rain - but they were in great shape.  We did get into one traffic jam near one of the big growers and their Tulip Festival activities - but once we got through there we picked the less traveled roads and got some great photos.  There were long, long lines of cars coming to see the tulips and leaving also - but we have learned the roads that won't have  all the traffic from Seattle and British Columbia.

I'll just let you enjoy the flowers.

It was a wonderful tour of the flowers.

  5. Absolutely stunning photos, JoAnn! I have recently come to love tulips. I guess I just never gave them much thought until about 10 years ago. I am looking for some peony tulips...I think they are also called doubles.
    Have a great week.

  14. Oh my, what a beautiful display! My husband bought me a pack of five tulip bulbs which I planted along the border of the lot I am weeding, So far they are not looking a fraction that that healthy and may or may not be thinking of displaying flowers. I should walk over there and show them your pictures for a bit of inspiration.

  17. Utterly amazing! No wonder people back up for miles to see this sight, especially since it is so short lived. That first shot is breathtaking! It comes the closest to describing the impact that only being there in person must have. One thing surprises me, though. Considering the times I have planted tulips marked "red" and had PINK ones pop up, I'm impressed that I don't see any "stray puppies" among the solid color fields!
