We haven't had much sunshine lately - lots of rain and fog and clouds - but those moments and few hours that the sun shines are fabulous.
The cold temperatures early in the week have caused the ice to buckle in a swampy area in a county park.
The ice isn't very thick, we had hoped to see some ducks on the water
But all we saw was the pretty chips of ice
And a fabulous view of Mt. Baker from another angle.
Mt. Baker IS fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI admire the contrast in texture in your water shots. Beautiful!
Gorgeous winter scenes in your neck of the woods JoAnn!
ReplyDeleteI would love to have a couple of months of a proper winter with snow.
Also the very cold temps are great for the garden by killing bad bugs and spore formers!
No ducks but the reeds among the water and ice are very pretty.
Mt Baker is beautifully framed by the fir trees in front.
Lovely to meet up ate Sunlit Sunday.
Shane
We got to go flying on Friday and even though it was cloudy, there were breaks making it quite beautiful. Today we got so much fog we couldn't fly home to Powell River. We drove and took the two ferries. Fortunately Pacific Coastal Airlines is used to fog delays and cancellations, so getting our money back wasn't an issue. But we had to pay for two cab rides to and from the storage yard where we keep our car. - Margy
ReplyDeleteIt must be colder where you are than here because there's no ice or snow anywhere and I'd love to see some. However, I won't complain! The sunny breaks have been wonderful although I haven't been out with my camera at all this week. Lovely photos.
ReplyDeleteSuch wonderful photos! Just popped over from Karen's Sunlit Sunday. I hope that you have a sunny day today and that it is not too too cold - it looks very very cold in your pictures! xx
ReplyDeleteGorgeous winter scenes, I love the view of Mt Baker.. Just lovely! Have a happy Sunday!
ReplyDeleteFabulous images ... Mt. Baker in all its glory! Happy Sun Lit Sunday!
ReplyDeleteMt. Baker is so photogenic! I very much like the photos where the ice has risen with the cold.
ReplyDeleteThose brief times of sunshine are great aren't they!
ReplyDeleteWhat a glorious view of the mountains! Enjoy your day sweet friend! Hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteI've just popped over from Karen on Sunlit-Sunday, and look forward to seeing more of where you live. Loved your pictures of all the ice on the swampy area..It must be very cold.

That icy pond looks very pretty in the sunshine and so does Mt. Baker! Our sun just disappeared behind some clouds but it was a gorgeous day until now. Have a great week! Pam
ReplyDeleteWhoa... That's a seriously nice view!
ReplyDeleteI love a sunny winter day and the pond looks pretty with the buckled ice. I think I see some green grass or moss in your photosMt. Baker is, of course, breathtakingly gorgeous! What a view you get to enjoy, JoAnn!

Oooo, Mt Baker! All covered in powdered sugar!
ReplyDeleteI'd never tire of that view of Mt. Baker. Gorgeous shot!
ReplyDeleteI don't think it's quite as cold here as in Bellingham. We haven't lately had the kind of ice you've shown (no complaints there!).
Some of those ice shapes are really fun to see. The mountain is fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI've never been to Alaska. Yur pics are awesome.
ReplyDeleteThe photograph of Mt. Baker is so majestic, I am in awe of all of the natural beauty that you have captured even without the ducks.
