About a week or so ago I had friends come for a luncheon - one was a classmate from elementary school in Sitka, AK another was a friend down from Ketchikan, AK and her lovely granddaughter, who will be a senior in high school this year. It was a very warm summer day - perfect for a summery luncheon.
Starting to set the table. I'm using MacBeth Evans dishes, in assorted summer colors. The tablecloth is had crocheted (over a solid mint green cloth), from the 50s - I found it on ebay a few years ago.
The flatware is Inspiration by Rogers Bros., from 1933. I found an almost complete set at a thrift store for 9.00. I love how dainty it is - not clunky like so much of the modern flatware.
I used the flower pot napkin rings that I painted last summer. A different color napkin ring for each place setting. The napkins are yellow check and green check.
You can see one of my newly painted dining room chairs in this photo.
Are those the cutest little salt and pepper? Avon - from a yard sale a week before - perfect for this summer table.
The glasses are different colors - a set from the 1950s
Here they are in a different table setting earlier in the year
Complete with the wonderful caddy - this may be one of my favorite sets of glasses
Time for food - olives, open face sandwiches and fruit salad
Wonderful summer fruits. I was able to find a watermelon with seeds - they taste so much better than the bland seedless ones. They are crisp, bright red and sweet and so much juicer. The blackberries I picked at Birch Bay State Park
Luncheon is served
The two-tiered aluminum server has cranberry/pecan shortbread, peanut butter cookies and banana bread - I spent a fun day earlier in the week baking for the luncheon
The flowers were a thoughtful hostess gift - thank you Lynn.

What a pretty table and such delicious food! I loved how you had a mix of colors on the table so the place settings and glassware. And please tell me, you found a set of flatware for $9.00??? Girl, I need to shop with YOU!
Pretty flowers, too, and I love the napkin rings you painted. So cute! I bet that was a fun gathering of friends! Thanks for sharing. :-)

What a lovely table setting! You have found some great deals.. I really like the napkin rings and the food all looks delicious.. I am sure it was a great time with your old friends.. Have a happy weekend!
My table is round too. I had to crochet a cloth to be able to afford one. (Actually I made a round one, then an oblong one for when one leaf is added, and a very long one for three added leaves. Now my dining room is too small to open that table and and the spill champion makes using those a challenge. Your pictures take me back to yester-year when much was possible.
How lovely it all looks! I'm sure you and your friends enjoyed it all.
Golly, the food looks go good! You are a marvelous baker for sure. The plates and the glassware are pretty as can be and the flowers are perfect for a summer table. I don't know how anyone could let go of an heirloom tablecloth like that. The crochet work is fabulous and looks lovely over the mint green tablecloth. The chairs look wonderful too, you did a great job painting them yellow. Very pretty, Everything! the chairs, the food, and the tablescape.
What a lovely summery table setting -- LOVE your flowerpot napkin rings! And I agree, old fashioned watermelon with seeds is indeed so much tastier than the seedless variety. But darn near impossible to find anymore!
Such a pretty vintage looking setting! There's nothing like the charm of older pieces to create such a relaxing atmosphere. I love that crochet table cover! What a beauty - an incredible amount of careful work went into it. I think your ladies had to be impressed at what they found here!
So inviting!
What lovely pastels! The fruit salad and fresh flowers look amazing! Bet you had a wonderful visit. :)
