We took a drive up to Birch Bay on Thursday evening - Don got off work early and it was the start of our three day weekend. On the way out of Birch Bay State Park I spotted the heron sitting in the tree. Don hadn't seen it so after I took the shot I turned to camera towards him so he could see it. And when I turned back to the heron - it had flown away. I won't do that again - I'll just continue shooting until the heron flies - THEN I'll show the pictures to Don.
This was taken in that area of the park where the lighting is magical - for some reason the colors are brighter and the lighting magnificent. This is shot is SOOC - I only wish I had gotten a few more.
I hope you had a wonderful Forth of July celebration. This heron looks as if he were posing for you. You are right, take the pictures first and worry about the rest later. With my Dear John, I would have to take about twenty minutes out to explain to him what I am doing and then show him what is going on.
ReplyDeleteThe heron is camouflaged so well against the tree bark!
ReplyDeleteHerons and egrets love to pose but you have to be quick. Nice shot!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beauty! I agree with you about the sensation of "magical lighting." There are certain times of day in every season where I love stepping into our backyard woods for that reason. I'm not as skilled with my camera as you are though, so I don't get pictures as nice as this one!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great shot - I've never seen a heron in a tree!
ReplyDeleteThat's a interesting-almost strange shot...Have a great week♪ http://lauriekazmierczak.com/gathered-flotsam/
ReplyDeleteVery nice! I hate it when I get distracted with one thing or another and miss opportunities like that. At least you got one good one!
