Fences and boats - on our most recent trip to Guemes Island - in Black and White
Zooming in, we can even see the people on the sailboat
I've never seen a fence like this before - it is made of the first slices of logs that are being made into lumber, and then arranged in a fan shape. Lots of work, and a great result.
There were three large sections of this fence

Great use for those first cuts. I keep looking for a bird. That would be a pretty perch.
JoAnn, I love b/w prints. Yours are so great and that fence is amazing..Happy Wednesday..Judy
love how the boats shine out in the b & w images and fascinating fence
I went to a wedding on Guemes Island about 5-6 years ago - such a gorgeous place/area!! Love the sail boats on the water! Thanks for linking up!
There is something restful to the eye in black and white photography isn't there JoAnn?
The sea breezes are so evident in the way the sailboats are heeled over. What a great time they would have had out on the water. The fan fence is really unique.
It looks to me like those sailboats are racing. And what an amazing fence! I've never seen anything quite like it. Isn't it interesting and different!?!
I like the feel of your photos, what a great looking fence.
Great ZIZO and Fence! I love it.
Fabulous fence - more like a sculpture!
The black and white photos suggest that sailing has been a favourite pastime there for years. The fence is unusual and beautiful!

I love that fence, so natural. Our friend John used to have a mill and it was really interesting to watch him cut the huge logs into useable lumber. We got all of the end cuts, but reduced them to stove size pieces for winter heating. They burned hot and fast making great fire starters. - Margy
love that fence...the ones here are very boring!!

Love the motion you captured with the sailboats, and that fence is amazing!
I love taking pictures of sailboats and you captured them amazingly. The fence is very unique and something that wouldn't be seen everywhere. Thanks for sharing this on my Almost Wordless Wednesday and I hope that you join me again this week.
