Trumpeter Swans On A Windy Day

I just can't pass up a chance to take pictures of the swans that overwinter here in the Skagit (sounds like gadget) and Whatcom counties.  Especially if they are in a green field.  Heading towards Birch Bay on the back roads we saw many flocks of them - this flock was close to the road.
Feathers ruffled by the wind - one is about to come out

It's so windy
Looking for food
I told you it was going to be stormy
You think?
Hmmm?
Synchronized eating

  1. Hi JoAnn. YOu are so lucky to have so many of these beauties wintering nearby. (great minds posting alike today, I have mute swans, which must like hot weather since they seem very happy here in Florida).

  2. Beautiful shots! You're lucky to get close enough (and I'll bet your new lens sure helps!) to get these gorgeous shots of pairs. I love how fluid their necks are. These are wonderful to look at. Bravo!

  3. I tried several times to leave a message, but only got a box filled with garble...don't know if it was my end or yours. Anyway, I am finally able...thanks for sharing the fantastic photos of such beautiful birds.

  4. Beautiful photographs JoAnn - and I love that lovely comment on the last photo. We have mute
swans here but they are rarely seen on the fields, mostly in the water. The farmer and I saw about twenty in a field the other day and stopped to watch them - needless to say I didn't have my camera with me.

  5. I love the shot of the swan where it looks like it is talking to its mate! xo

  6. They really are beautiful creatures, aren't they? Looks like one feather has a mind of it's own, kinda like my cowlick. ;-)
