We live smack in the middle of a very large town - yet we have woods on three sides - and lots of wild life. It is like living a rural life - and in 3 minutes we are back in the hustle and bustle of the city.
These are regular visitors to our "rural" yard and to the woods across the street.
It appears they are eating the fresh shoots on the blackberry bushes.
They don't stay long - they graze a bit and move on.

I've lived in my present home for five years and never tire of seeing these beauties. They can be a nuisance if you see it that way. They nibble on plants (more when there isn't much in the woods to eat) but I love being able to see them and watch fawns grow.

Your deer looks such a sweet little thing, but I saw an
article on our TV the other day which said there were now so
many in the UK that they were becoming a pest.
Aren't they pretty, sweet critters? And how they love those tender, new shoots! We have snowberries they love. They've gone after my summer crocosmia, and now we have a new little yew that looks like "deer nip" to them. We have some nasty smelling stuff my husband sprays on the appealing stuff, but they still do their share of munching. And there's a total free lunch across the street: acres of an open space recreation area! I guess there's a more interesting buffet in our gardens.
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are so pretty. We live in the exact same environment as you do and deer often are seen behind our house. We don't mind that they eat our spouts. They get hungry too!
ReplyDeleteIn the last few days, reading your book, I discovered that we learned to embroider the same way - stem stitch, daisy stitch etc. My grandmother taught me on stamped pillow cases. I struggled with French knots too!
My "walking doll" had brown hair and I named her Barbara. I still have her. She comes out at Christmas in a white dress and red velvet cape that my mother made for her many years ago.
The deer came by here to dine every day, several times a day, until we fenced. I really love to look at them, but it is hard to keep a garden going with them around!

ReplyDeleteHow do you feel about the visitors? I have heard although they are beautiful, they can also be very destructive to gardens and property.
