It is almost easter - the excitement is mounting - the eggs are being prepared for coloring - the decorations are all in place - soon there will be children scampering about hunting for that one last egg and everyone will be chomping on chocolate bunnies - spring is here and the sun will be shining.
It is Friday - time for Five Random Things. When I start this post each week I think it will be hard to come up with five things - but then it is always easy - I guess I'm very random. The photos are of my easter/spring decorations.
The centerpiece on my table - the house is a basket (see the handle on the top) and it is made of plastic canvas - I just love doing plastic canvas crafts, but don't have many. Don't you love the daffodil trees for the bunny house?
1. Don and I have been married for 49 years this September. That means that including the year we dated - we've had 50 Valentine's Day, 50 Christmases, 50 Easters, 50 summers, winters, autumns and springs together. Those are warm fuzzy thoughts to keep you warm on cold winter nights.
Some of the little bunny figurines that visit the easter house
2. I am not all that fond of cooking - but I'm an excellent cook anyway. I like to make huge crock pots full of food and then freeze it in individual servings for reheating later - my freezer is very full of meals, which means I don't have to cook all that often. I don't think I've ever cooked a meal for just two people - I always cook to serve at least 10 or more - into the freezer.
More figurines - most are only about 1 1/2" tall
3. I once had curly hair - loved it - rumple it up a bit in the morning and I was ready to go. Then I had surgery and my hair went straight - and then several years later, another surgery and now it is partly curly, partly straight. I'm willing to stay at this place - no more surgeries please.
Some of my birthday chocolates with flowers and bunnies (the bunnies ate all the chocolates, so I have none left)
4. I love to read non-fiction - my favorite thing is a book that is made from a personal journal - stories that show what life was like for real people.
Easter eggs made with tiny fabric YoYos, sequins and beads
5. I love wind chimes - little tinkley ones - huge bonging ones - middle in between ones. I have one made from large bamboo pieces and another that has a large metal heron that holds the chimes. I like to hang them in the little grove of trees in our yard, and one tiny one on the back of my rocking chair in the living room.

And there you have it - my five things for this week. I hope your weekend is as fabulous as can be. "Hoppy" Easter.
And pretty flowers - just because it is spring!!
Random 5 Friday

ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing part of yourself at R5F this week and Happy Easter!
Congratulations on being together for 50 years.

Very pretty - I have no signs of Easter at my house except for a bunch of pussywillows. Partly because we still have about 3 feet of snow, partly because we went away for part of spring break. Happy Easter!
ReplyDeleteyou are too cute. i love wind chimes. the hubby disagrees. so when the winds start going crazy - i can tell he dislikes mine. i really wish for one of those ones that sounds of a church bell. brings me back to the days of my childhood. i miss those church bells. i have several. when the hubby is not looking i might add more. ha. ha!! ( :
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter!!
Congrats on your long & happy marriage. so special!!
I love wind chimes too...have several on my porch. Then I got this huge one as my Christmas gift from my sales director at my job. It sounds like church bells and goes on non stop. Son from St. Louis was home sleeping on the couch and went bonkers...took it down. I really mean non stop !
ReplyDeleteLOL its been down ever since. Your little yo yos on those eggs are amazing!
50 years is quite a milestone. Congrats on being there and being together.
ReplyDeleteI love the yo-yo eggs. Lovely. And your little Easter characters. I bet Easter is fun at your house. I love wind chimes and reading (not necessarily in that order). Congratulations on 50 years...many more! Happy Spring and Happy Easter!
ReplyDeleteI love your Easter decorations--so sweet and spring-y! I enjoy wind chimes, too, especially the ones that sound lightly and soothingly. I read a lot of nonfiction, too. If I read fiction, it's usually a mystery or thriller.
ReplyDeleteJoAnn, I have so enjoyed this leisurely stroll through the peaceful place that is your blog! I just love seeing the focus on the simple beauty of life (tulips, swans, fences) that most of us rush past without a thought.
ReplyDeleteOur lovely mutual friend, Debra, knew I'd love coming here - and reading your book! I'm starting it today. We're nearly the same age. I'm going to enjoy it!
