Catching the Light

On the way to Anacortes, WA we took a little side road that went right along the bay - and there were the Pintail Ducks - they were ready for a party!

Here we are - calm and floating about in the bay

Some of us are prettying ourselves up

I'm especially pretty, don't you agree?

Just another touch of water proofing and I'll be splendid

See, the girls are checking me out

And aren't the girls so fine, with their blue beaks

And have you heard the latest?  I hear many of the flock are getting ready to fly north.

Just a few more spots and I'll be perfect

Please, no photos until I'm done

Really, I mean it - no photos

Just let me fluff things up and then I'm perfect

Hey - watch it Frieda

Watch me go!

Splish Splash, I was takin' a bath

Long about a Saturday night

Rub Dub, just splashin' in the tub

Thinkin' everything was alright.  .  .

And now - time to eat - thank you for visiting us

  1. Very nice series of shots, JoAnn! And love the narration! I have never seen a Pintail duck - they are very pretty! I love the girl's blue beaks and the male is very striking. Thanks for showing us these beautiful ducks! xx

  2. Nice of them to invite you to the "going away" party for the ones who are ready to fly North for the summer. They posed beautifully.

  3. you are so imaginative and funny :) I have been catching up on your blog here and there AND during the course of that ( today on my lunch hour ) finally found the answer to the "No Reply" thing. EVERY once in awhile a blogger will say that I am "No Reply" and then I go through all of my wordpress settings trying to find out what they are talking about. No luck. And here on your blog, a month or so back, was the answer. It had NOTHING to do with my blog at wordpress at all! It was a blogger thing! So I changed the setting according to your direction and it should work ( I guess..still not sure what happens on your end but I did it :)
