I love signs - we will stop and take pictures of them whenever we get a chance - sometimes back tracking to get a sign we whizzed past. I found these signs on oars and paddles on Lummi Island. It is a small island just offshore from Bellingham - well a 40 minute drive from Bellingham. And then a 5 minute ferry ride on an a small open ferry.
Some of the names are no longer legible - and many of the oars and paddles are broken and weathered.
But it is still wonderful to think of the people who have lived here and put their names up on the signs so their friends could find them. They are attached to a Chestnut Tree.
Wouldn't find yourself up the creek without a paddle here.

What a fun idea! Glad you spotted it.
ReplyDeleteGood catch...these are different! I love signs and love finding other people who do too! Enjoyed the Pacific Northwest memories too! (We lived in western Oregon for years and still go visit there every summer.!)
ReplyDeleteReminds me of the thousands of signs at Watson Lake in Yukon, stopped on our trip to Alaska and added our names - wonder if they're still there? Signs certainly can be fascinating!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea, and it has character. Too bad it won't last forever.
