After Don and I were married (in Texas) we decided to move back to Alaska and we took the ferry home.
Now we sit and watch the ferry as it departs - listen to the whistle blow and echo off the hills of Bellingham. That is one of my favorite sounds - I could listen to it forever. We haven't been back to Alaska in over 40 years, but these trips to the ferry make us want to go - and we shall - someday.
Down the channel and to Alaska . . .
This past Friday we were treated to a display of ducks in the bay.
Barrow's Golden Eye ducks - such cute small ducks - and they swam right in front of where we were parked. I got out of the car and stood in the chilly wind to get some good pictures.
I'm glad I did. The little flock swam back and forth in front of us and under the small dock nearby, several times, so I had lots of chances for good pictures.
And he'll tell the king over there on the pilings.

Glad you got out of the car because I enjoyed your photos!
Aren't they just gorgeous? And don't you wish our kids would mind us half as well as ducks?...Ann

Wow, your pictures are beautiful! Great post! ☺ Diane
What a wonderful place to live. You have a great post to visit.
Seeing your pictures has brought a pang of homesickness for the PNW to my heart. I moved from Washington State to Georgia about 10 months ago and I STILL miss Washington! It is so beautiful there! Your pictures are lovely! I can almost smell the salty waters and hear the sounds of the beautiful birds - OH how I miss it!
Thank you for sharing - it made me smile to remember how beautiful my "home" away from home is.
I look forward to reading more of your interesting blog and losing myself in your beautiful pictures.
Blessings to you,
Kymber
A great series of photos, the gulls are always so entertaining. I love the captions.
I lived in Anchorage for ten years and traveled all over the state, it was a wonderful experience. Now I'm on the other side of the state from you, WA has some great spot as well but I do miss AK.
