We used to sell a lot at t...I like Ceanothus also. We used to sell a lot at the Nursery where I worked. There are different shade of purpley blue too and a trailing (port reyes-(I think) variety. I think they grow wild on the hillsides in some parts of California.<br />About barn--there sure are a lot of them out there. I don't get up north very often but am going to have to. I always identify it with the best times in my life. My beloved maternal grandma lived in back of us and she had several bushes. They would bloom profusely at the time of year when nasty winter was finally over and the end of the school year was in sight. She cut branches for us to take to school to place in front of the Blessed Virgin statue and to enjoy at home.
