It's got leaves that usually look like a maple leaf in shape, but are quite variable. The underside of the leaves are fuzzy white. We get them around here in small patches where pioneers established their cabins. You can often find these, along with Lilacs and Day Lilies marking the spot, even if there's no evidence of a cabin left. California Sycamore has palmate leaves like that but I don't know if they are fuzzy. White popular (or silver poplar) leaves seem to be fuzzy but not as deeply cut.
