Wednesday Wee Ones - A New Doll

A new doll - a real treat.

This is the challenge fabric that Diane picked - we can use any other fabric with the chosen one (music notes) and I decided to use a small red print - perfect for summer dresses.  Stop over and visit Diane and see what she made from this fabric- I can't wait to see what she has made.
Sally Jo is the new doll, on the left.  A gift from our son and daughter-in-law when they were here visiting from West Virginia.  She is making friends and enjoying her stay with us.  Abby is happy to have another doll in the family.
Today they posed on the deck, with pretty flowers in the background
Sally Jo's dress is from a free patter found HERE - I added the ruffle, just because I love ruffles.  The pattern has sizes for little girls, if you have a daughter or granddaughter to sew for, and doll size.  The pattern is free and downloadable so you don't have to wait for it to arrive.
I added the ruffle to the pattern, just because I love ruffles.
And a cute scarf of music fabric and red binding
Abby's dress is from McCalls pattern 6137.  It is discontinued, but can be found on ebay quite reasonably.  The hat is from the same pattern.
The ruffle was included in the pattern and is the perfect finishing touch to the sun dress
The hat is red fabric, lined with music fabric - great for a sunny afternoon
Sally Jo and Abby can switch hats/head scarves too - since all the pieces match

The deck is fun - and smells so good with sweet peas and purple petunias blooming.

 Sharing is fun!!
And we can switch back and forth all day
Have you been sewing doll clothes lately?  Let us know so we can visit.

The red with ruffles is the perfect addition to this pretty fabric. And I love the hat and want to try to make one of those next. This was such a fun challenge...we're ready for the next one! AND you got a new dollie! How much fun is that? She will love living there and enjoying your pretty flowers. Have a happy day sweet friend. Hugs, Diane and dollies

JoAnn, the girls are so cute and I love the red trimmings that you added to the note fabric. Abby must be so happy now that she has a sister and can -(steal) borrow her clothes. Isn't that every little girl's dream?..Happy Wednesday..Judy

No, sadly I have not been able to sew doll clothes lately. But I am sure enjoying seeing what you have been making for your dolls. The outfits are adorable. And I like your new doll too.

You and Diane are having such fun with fabric and doll clothes. Love the music print and the red contrast. Very chic.

The button basket that holds the doll's clothes is so packed it might be hard to add new ones.

Very pretty! I think it is a lovely idea that you could make a dress the same for a little girl doll owner! xx

Hi Joann! Oh, the girls are just adorable and I love their sweet little dresses. Love that note song fabric! :) The red fabric looks great with it! Love the floppy hat you've made! Oh, I'm so enjoying yours and Diane's posts about the dresses. I started posting my doll dresses and learned y'all were doing it too! I love it. Thank you so much for popping in to see mine.
be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

How thrilled Abby must be to have a sister to share clothes with. The outfits are adorable with the little outfits made from the musical notes fabric and trimmed with the pretty red fabric. I have been looking for a doll at the local thrift stores. I did find one of Madam Alexander's Rainy Day dolls (brand new and in the box) at the Goodwill store by my sons house, they wanted fifty dollars for her. I see them cheaper than that with free shipping on Ebay. I will keep on looking for my doll until I find her because I want to play too!

Very sweet! The red fabric goes with with the "chosen" blue and white.
